Thank you for considering Burgmann Anglican School for your child. We know choosing a school is an important decision and you want to make the right choice for your family.
Steps to Enrolment
Step 1: Discover
Finding a school that is the right fit for your child is important. We encourage you to look through the website, read the prospectus, take a virtual tour and book in for an on-site tour. Ask questions and talk to friends and family.
Step 2: Apply
We are grateful to the many families who trust us with the education and care of their children. As a non-selective school, all offers of place are made with regard to the date of application. We encourage you to complete an application for your child/children as early as possible.
You will need to pay a non-refundable registration fee and complete an application for each child.
Once the application has been finalised, your child will be placed onto the appropriate waiting list for the year level and year of entry you selected.
If we are not able to offer a place for the year requested, your child’s name will automatically roll over to the following waiting list each year until a vacancy is available.
Step 3: Stay in Touch
We will endeavour to stay in contact with you and encourage you to attend whole community events when they are held. Should your contact details change please let us know so that we have your most current information on file.
Step 4: Conditional Offer & Interview
Conditional offers are emailed to families when a vacancy is available. At this time, we will ask for information relevant to your child - recent school reports, action plans or assessments and so on. An interview will then be held prior to an offer of enrolment being confirmed. This is an opportunity for us to get to know your child and for you to ask any questions you may have about our educational programs.
Step 5: Finalise
Following a successful interview, we will issue an Enrolment Invoice for the Enrolment Fee and Development Foundation Contribution (DFC), both of which are non-refundable. Receipt of payment will finalise the offer.

Intake Points
As part of Burgmann Anglican School’s Early Years expansion, the School’s intake points are changing. The table below outlines current and future intake points, including indicative timelines for when enrolment offers commence at each year level.

For all other year levels (non-intake years), offers are only made as vacancies arise. The School holds waiting lists for all year levels and we encourage you to apply as early as possible.

Waitlists Explained
Waitlists at Burgmann are designed to be fair, transparent and easy to navigate.
This guide explains how they work, what affects your position, and how to make the most of your application.

How waitlists are structured
The School manages waitlists for each year level and calendar year. Applications are generally ordered by the date they are received, with earlier applications placed higher.
To support gender balance, separate waitlists are maintained for:
- male students
- female students
Waitlists are dynamic and may change as families update their enrolment preferences, offers are accepted or declined, and places become available.
With the exception to the Early Learning Centre, if an offer is declined or expires, the application date is reset to the date of decline or expiry. The child’s position on the waitlist is then updated accordingly.
When offers are made
When a place becomes available, offers are made in order of the waitlist.
This includes:
- the relevant year level
- the relevant gender list
Priority groups are considered first (see below), followed by the standard waitlist.
The majority of enrolments occur at key intake years, with fewer places available in other year levels.
If an offer is made, a place is only secured once it is accepted and all enrolment requirements are completed.
Priority enrolment
Some students are given priority for an offer of enrolment.
This includes children who:
- attend the Early Learning Centre (ELC)
- have siblings already at the School
- have a parent who works at the School
- have a parent who is a practising Anglican clergy member
These students are given priority on our waitlists, placing them above the children on the waitlist who do not have an enrolment priority. When there are multiple children on a waitlist with priority, they are also ordered by application date.
Rolling over to later year levels
When you apply for a specific year (for example, Year 6 in 2028), your child is also included in future year level waitlists.
This means:
- Year 6 (2028)
- Year 7 (2029)
- Year 8 (2030), and so on
You do not need to reapply for each year. Your child will automatically roll over to the waitlist for the following year if we cannot offer them a place in the year requested.
Choosing the right entry point
Applying for an earlier year level does not reduce or increase your chances of receiving an offer in a later year.
For this reason, we encourage families to apply for the earliest year they would consider accepting
This gives your child more opportunities to receive an offer only for the year levels you are interested in.
Declining or not accepting an offer
If you decline an offer, or if the offer expires because we do not receive a response, your application will remain on the waitlist for a later year of entry.
However, the application date will be updated to the date the offer was declined or expired. As waitlists are ordered by application date, this will change your child’s position on the waitlist.

How do I register my child at Burgmann?
To place your child's name on the waiting list, simply register online using the Online Application Form. A confirmation email and receipt will be sent to you.
What is the cost to register a child at Burgmann?
Please refer to the Fee Schedule on the Fees page for the current registration fee.
Do I get my money back if my child does not gain a place?
No. The registration fee is non-refundable and is not a deposit. It is not part of the enrolment fee or subsequent fees charged at the School.

Does Burgmann offer scholarships to students?
Yes. Burgmann offers a Year 11 & 12 scholarship.

If I register my child early, is my child guaranteed a place?
No. Registration does not guarantee a place.
Are siblings guaranteed a place?
No. Siblings are not guaranteed a place. However, waitlisted siblings of enrolled students do have sibling status. This places them above waitlisted children who do not have a sibling at Burgmann.
Have I missed my chance if I didn't register when my child was young?
Not at all. Families join our waitlists at many different stages of their child's education. Waitlist lengths vary by year level and circumstances can change over time, so registering later does not mean you won't be offered a place.
When is the best time to place my child on a waiting list?
We encourage families to register as early as possible. Enrolment offers are made according to the date a child is placed on the waiting list.
Can I place my unborn child on a waiting list?
No. A child must be born, with their name and actual date of birth supplied, to be processed for registration.
At what age can my child start at Burgmann?
The Burgmann Anglican School Early Learning Centre (ELC) offers care for children from six months of age through to a comprehensive program for two-year-olds.
Please note that the ELC is not an official intake point for the School. However, children in the ELC receive priority consideration for entry into our Preschool's 3 Pre program, subject to availability.
Our Preschool program is the first official intake point for Burgmann Anglican School. Children wishing to enter the Preschool's 3 Pre program need to have turned three by 30 April in the year of entry.

Do you have an Early Learning Centre?
Yes. The Burgmann Anglican School Early Learning Centre (ELC) opened in January 2020. The ELC is grounded in the Christian faith and adopts the Reggio Emilia approach to learning. The centre caters for children aged from six months to two years. It shares the same philosophies and practices as Burgmann Anglican School.

Do you have a Preschool?
Yes. Burgmann Anglican School has offered a Preschool program for more than 25 years. While the program has evolved over time and been known by various names, its core philosophies and commitment to educating the whole child have remained consistent.
From 2027, the program will again be known as Preschool. It is designed specifically for three- and four-year-old children in 3 Pre and 4 Pre, and will be delivered in a purpose-designed new facility at our Forde Campus.

When do the Preschool and Early Learning Centre programs operate?
Both programs operate five days per week, Monday to Friday, across 49 weeks of the year, with a three-week closure over December and January. Daily hours are 7.30am to 6.00pm, providing full-day early learning and care.

How long are the waiting lists?
Waiting lists vary over time as family circumstances and enrolment needs change. Year 7 is our most in-demand entry point and usually has the longest waiting list.
Can I register for more than one waiting list?
No. A child can only be placed on one waiting list at a time. If a place is not available in the year level you originally requested, your child's name will automatically be carried forward to the next year level's waiting list while maintaining the original date of registration.
Because your child's original registration date is maintained as they move through subsequent waiting lists, applying for multiple year levels would not provide an additional enrolment opportunity.

Does Burgmann accept fee-paying international students?
No. Burgmann does not have the necessary registration with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) to accept students from overseas. For students travelling on other visa classes, please refer to the Education Directorate website.
Do I need to take any further action once my child is registered?
Please ensure your contact details remain up to date. Any changes should be provided to the Admissions Office in writing by email to admissions@burgmann.act.edu.au. Once your details have been updated, a confirmation email will be sent for your records.
If you would like to move your child to a different waiting list, please contact the Admissions Office by email.
We encourage you to stay connected with the School by following us on Facebook and Instagram and attending our community events.
Otherwise, no further action is required. The Admissions Office will contact you if and when a place becomes available.
What happens if I am made an offer and I do not accept it?
If a prospective student is offered a place that is not accepted, their registration date will be changed to the date they decline the offer, or the date the offer expires if they do not respond.
Can I tour the school before I register?
Yes. We encourage all families to tour the School. Tours are held at both campuses throughout the school term.
